Heathfield & Waldron Parish Council declares Climate Emergency

The Heathfield and Waldron Parish Council has taken a significant step to address its concerns about the pressing issue of climate change by declaring a Climate Emergency. This declaration underscores the council's commitment to taking prompt and meaningful actions to mitigate the effects of climate change and promote sustainability within the parish.

The decision to declare a Climate Emergency was made during a Full Council meeting held on 14 November, where members of the Heathfield & Waldron Parish Council unanimously voted in favour of the declaration. This important step reflects the council's dedication to safeguarding the environment, promoting climate resilience, and contributing to a more sustainable future for its community.

Simon Leney, Vice Chair of the Council and Chair of its Environment group, stated, "We recognize that climate change poses a serious threat to our environment and our way of life. By declaring a Climate Emergency, we are acknowledging the urgency of this issue and committing to taking meaningful steps to reduce our carbon footprint and enhance the resilience of our parish. We believe that by coming together as a community, we can make a substantial impact."

The declaration of a Climate Emergency signifies the parish council's intention to:
